Durdle Door

Durdle Door

The natural Portland limestone rock arch of Durdle Door stands out majestically in the sea, although laid down horizontally on the seabed millions of years ago, movement of the earth’s crust has pushed it into a near vertical position. Look along the coast and you may see The Cow and The Bull, semi submerged rocks showing you the line of the reef that runs along the coast.

To get down to the clifftop above Durdle Door or onto the beach it does involve some steep slopes and steps in places. Most people with reasonable mobility find it fine, but if you do have restricted mobility your guide will show you a vantage point from where you can see Durdle Door from the top of the chalk ridge, above Scratchy Bottom.
